CODE OF CONDUCT

Caledon Concert Band (CCB) Code of Conduct

The CCB Code of Conduct outlines our expectations regarding members' behaviour towards fellow members, the conductor, and the overall organization.

General Conduct

As a volunteer community band, we promote freedom of expression and open communication while maintaining a respectful, organized, and collaborative environment.

Members who commit offensive behaviour, participate in disputes, or in any way disrupt rehearsals or performances may be asked to leave immediately. Persisting in disruptive or inappropriate behaviour may result in band membership being terminated and forfeiting membership fees

Members are expected to foster a well organized, respectful, and collaborative environment at all times.

Player Etiquette

Playing in a community band is a shared experience between the conductor, and musicians. To cultivate an environment of respect and appreciation, please adhere to the following guidelines:

- Avoid side conversations while the conductor is talking.

- Silence all devices during rehearsals, except for emergencies.

- Direct questions during rehearsal to your conductor at an appropriate time.

- Arrive in time to set up, warm up and be ready to play by 7 PM. Assist in putting away all equipment after rehearsals and    concerts.

- Refrain from turning in your seat when a fellow musician is being corrected or playing a solo.

- Respect the music provided and return it to the librarian immediately following the concert. Mark music with pencil only.

- Practice your parts between rehearsals to stay prepared.

- Show appreciation for the playing of others and maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere.

Remember we are all here to have fun and make beautiful music! Following these simple recommendations will help ensure everyone can enjoy every rehearsal.

Complaint Procedure

Members have the right to a safe environment that encourages open and honest dialogue. You may submit comments, suggestions or concerns using the email form on our website. Commitment to Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

The Caledon Concert Band is dedicated to providing a welcoming and inclusive environment for all who engage with us, including our musicians, their families, audience members, and the volunteers who help make our events possible. We are committed to fostering a space that embraces individuals and groups from diverse ethnic, racial, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, religious, disability, socioeconomic, and musical backgrounds.

Recognizing the barriers faced by marginalized communities within traditional music spaces and practices, the Caledon Concert Band is dedicated to promoting and celebrating a wide variety of musical styles and performances. We value creativity and diversity in musical interests and tastes, encouraging our musicians to express their individuality and unique musical perspectives.

The Caledon Concert Band is committed to maintaining a community that recognizes and values the inherent worth and dignity of every person. We strive to support and cultivate tolerance, sensitivity, understanding, and mutual respect. We encourage everyone who engages with the band to reach their full potential, believing that diversity strengthens our community by stimulating creativity, promoting the exchange of ideas, and enriching our collective experience.

We are continuously evaluating how we can improve our commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. While we acknowledge that we may make mistakes along the way, we firmly believe that taking action towards these goals is essential and non-negotiable.

** It should be noted that the band currently rehearses in a space that is unfortunately not fully accessible to individuals with certain physical limitations."
